Join us to experience the joy of sailing on these special instructor led sessions every Friday afternoon from 31st March to 28th April 2023. Join us for just one or two sessions to get to grips with the basics or come along each week. Participants will have the opportunity to work towards and gain a RYA qualification and to meet new people.
The sessions are open to adults who have a diagnosed condition, disability or care needs and persons with dementia that have been affected by the pandemic or living with long term health issues and their carers. There will be a maximum of 4 participants on each session with a qualified instructor.
Register a place on our free open day on the 24th March, starting at 1.30pm. This is a great opportunity to meet the staff, look round the site and the boat that we will be using. We will talk you through what each session will involve and answer any questions that you may have.
The sessions will be available on Friday afternoons from the 31st March through to the 28th April.
Each session is 3 hours long and runs from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
We will be using a Hawk 20 for these sessions. The Hawk is a 20ft self-righting, self‑draining dayboat built to uncompromising standards of quality and safety. It is suitable for all levels including complete novices as it provides excellent stability.
The sessions are part funded by Sports England. There will be a small contribution of £10 per person required per session.

Car Park available on site. Accessible local transport available if needed.
Dress for the weather forecast, and bring extra layers as it can get chilly out on the water. Buoyancy aids will be provided.
If the event is cancelled by Derwentwater Marina due to unsuitable weather conditions a refund or transfer will be offered.
